Magic City Muscle Powerlifting
Minot, North Dakota
Minot's only competive powerlifting team lifts out of the Minot YMCA. We started our club in 2002 when we attended our first NASA (Natural Athletes Strength Association) national meet in Nashville, Tn. We are are a drug free team that is dedicated to that cause. Our association is centered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rich Peters is the head of NASA. Norm Judd is the North Dakota state chairman.

Bob Brunner benches 534 at the World Cup Aug 2, 2008
Bob Brunner had a good day at the World Cup in Oklahoma City on Aug 2.  Bob lifted in the 275 lb class in Push/Pull and in Bench Only.
Bob broke the American record in the Open 275 lb Push/Pull with a (534bp+628dl) 1162 total. Bob also placed first in the 275 (24-29) division in push/pull defeating a great young lifter, Henry Thomason.
In the Bench Only division, Bob became the first NASA lifter from North Dakota to officially bench over 500 lbs.  Bob benched 534 to take first in the intermediate division.
Bob has been working with USAPL champ, Mike Tucscherer, and has made a lot of improvement with Mike's help. Good job, Big Bob!!

We had some special lifters at the Minot Y last week. We had Bill Helmich of New Mexico, who is a multi time world master's champion and Mike Tucscherer of the Minot Air Force Base, who won the USAPL Nationals and the Arnold Classic this year. Both are going to the IPF World Championships later this year. Bill is going in  the 242 lb  60+ division in Palm Springs at the end of Sept.  Mike will be going to St John, Newfoundland on Nov 8 in the 275 lb Open division.
Bill's lifts are outstanding, with 534 squat, 396 bench and a 600 deadlift at 66 years of age. WOW!
Mike won the Nationals with a squat of 903, bench 626 and a deadlift of 804. Mike is hoping to improve on all three lifts at the worlds. Mike is only 23 years old. Just amazing!!
Good luck to both  men at the World Championships. We know you will represent the USA in fine fashion.
These guys are great men who happen to be outstanding lifters. It was an honor to work out with both of you.
